The Leiden/Amsterdam Center for Drug Research

The Leiden/Amsterdam Center for Drug Research (LACDR) is a joint venture between the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (Center for Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences) of the Universiteit Leiden and the Faculty of Sciences (Department of Pharmacochemistry) of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Mission and Objectives

LACDR aims to be one of the leading academic centers in the world in learning, in teaching, and in advancing innovative drug research, developing knowledge and expertise crucial for drug discovery, evaluation and (clinical) application. This also involves fundamental understanding of drug action as the basis for efficacy and safety of drugs.

Central in the LACDR management structure is the Research Directorate, currently consisting of Professors Meindert Danhof (Leiden) and Nico Vermeulen (Amsterdam).

LACDR Scientific Advisory Board

In January 2007, LACDR’s new Scientific Advisory Board was established to provide solicited and unsolicited advice on the research strategy of LACDR and the education programs in Leiden and Amsterdam. The Scientific Advisory Board is also involved in the International Peer Review process of LACDR.
